POV: You've just received your Berkin Flowers delivery (yay!) and want to enjoy those blooms for as long as possible. Here’s how to keep your flowers looking their best for longer, whether they arrive as a bouquet or in a vase.
Step 1 (Bouquets Only): Hydrate and Trim

For our bouquets, we pre-cut the stems and deliver them with a hydration pouch attached, so they’re ready to go straight into water when they arrive. To keep them fresh:
- Place in Water Immediately: As soon as you receive your bouquet, place it in a vase of lukewarm water.
- If Delayed: If the bouquet has been out of its hydration pouch for more than 15 minutes, give the stems a fresh cut at a 45-degree angle before placing them in water. This helps the flowers absorb water, keeping them hydrated and vibrant. You can continue to trim stems at an angle during regular water changes.
Step 2 (Bouquets and Vases): Refresh and Protect
Our vase arrangements are designed in water without the use of floral foam, which helps them last longer and makes them easier to care for at home. Here’s our top recommendations:
- Regular Water Changes: Every 1-2 days, carefully tip out the old water and replace it with clean, lukewarm water. If the water looks cloudy or low, it’s time for a change!
- Avoid Sunlight and Heat: Keep the bouquet out of direct sunlight and away from any heat sources. A cooler room will help your flowers last longer.
- Steer Clear of Fruit: Keep the flowers away from fruit, as ripening fruit releases ethylene gas, which can cause your flowers to age faster.
- Flower Food: When it comes to long-lasting flowers, regular clean water changes are more important than flower food, but flower food in conjunction with fresh water changes is beneficial for vase life. If you are using powdered flower food or a DIY version, we recommend adding it in during water changes.
By following these simple tips, you can enjoy your fresh flower delivery for longer. A little care goes a long way in keeping your blooms fresh and beautiful! As always, feel free to contact us with any questions, and happy flowering!
